Little is known about the bionomics of Runchomyia.
Larvae have been collected from flower bracts (Calathea
and Heliconia), leaf axils (aroids), and
both arboreal and terrestrial bromeliads. The adults of at least two species
have been captured during landing-biting collections in forest.
