Bionomics
Larvae are found primarily in brackish water, mangrove swamps and salt marshes, but have also been collected from rock holes and fresh water ground pools.
Females bite any time of the day or night and will bite man. They are strong fliers and can be found some distance from the coast (Belkin 1962).

Medical Importance
Principal vector of non-periodic filariasis in New Caledonia and the Loyalty Islands (Belkin 1962).
