Bionomics
Larvae are commonly found in stagnant
fresh ground water habitats that include rice fields, stream
pools, springs, ponds, swamps, ditches, seepages and animal
footprints. Females are evening
biters, feeding primarily on cattle, but entering houses to
bite man (Harbach 1988).
