Bionomics
- Larvae are found primarily in and at the edges of open swamp
in association with Isachne and Panicum grasses. Larvae use a
specialized siphon to attach to plant roots. Females feed primarily
on birds but will bite cattle (Warton 1962).
Medical Importance
- Secondary vector of W. malayi (Warton 1962).
