Welcome to the MosquitoMap forum! The immediate aim of this forum is to give members of the mosquito research and control community a voice about what they consider are the best ways to record and disseminate mosquito collection data online. However, related subjects on this forum, are encouraged, so please don’t be shy about posting your ideas! To get the ball rolling I would like to ask whether you think a freely available online database of mosquito collection records is a good idea, and why is it a good or bad idea? Free access and proper attribution are guiding principals for MosquitoMap. However, I have heard misgivings from some quarters about how people will use these data, and that this information should somehow be restricted. What uses do you think people will have for these kinds of data, and do you think these applications should influence how MosquitoMap operates?
