- 1. Seta 1-C arises on a distinct process on the anterior margin of the head
- 2. Seta 14-C always near the anterior margin of the lateralia (Lat), at the base of the maxilla (Mx)
- 3. Hypostomal suture (HyS) absent
- 4. Abdominal segment VIII usually bears a comb plate (CP) with a single row of comb scales (C) on its posterior margin
- 5. Siphon (S) with a single pair of seta 1-S inserted well above the base
