Bionomics

  • Larvae are found in tree holes, stump holes and in artifical containers with plant debris in or near wooded areas. Both sexes are attracted to lights. Females will enter building to bite.

Medical Importance

  • An. barberi has demonstrated the ability to transmitt vivax malaria under laboratory conditions but not thought to be an important vector in nature.
