IDENTIFYING CHARACTERS:
Maxillary palpus of female
almost as long as either the antenna or proboscis
Postspiracular setae absent
Prespiracular setae present
Scales on the dorsal surface of
the radial sector and media narrow
BIONOMICS:
The larvae are found in brackish pools near the coast. Pools with
emergent vegetation are favored.
MEDICAL IMPORTANCE:
An. bradleyi (as bradleyi-crucians) has been implicated as a vector of Cache
Valley virus on the Del-Mar-Va Peninsula, southeastern USA (Buescher et al. 1970).
