Species-specific Diagnostic Characters, Adult Stage
- Maxillary palpus of female almost as long as either the antenna or proboscis
- Postspiracular setae absent
- Prespiracular setae present
- Scales on the dorsal surface of the radial sector and media narrow.
Bionomics
- The larvae are found in sunny habitats including stream pools and margins. Females feed at night and will enter houses to take a blood meal.
Medical Importance
- This species is not an important vector of malaria in the United States.
