Bionomics
- The larvae of A. walkeri occur in fresh-water marshes containing
emergent or floating vegetation or debris. The adults are known to enter
dwellings at night to feed on humans and then retire to secretive daytime
hiding places. (Carpenter and LaCasse 1955:54)
Medical Importance
- This mosquito appears to be a potential vector of malaria on the basis
of successful experimental transmission of the disease and the finding
of a single wildcaught specimen by Bang et al. (17) containing oocysts
and a gland infection. (Carpenter and LaCasse 1955:55)
